The Page Family {Baxley, GA Family and Children's Photographer}

This family couldn't be more special to me if they were my own family! The Page's literally have been there since day 1 of my photography journey and have stuck with me all the way through 2012.  I have felt genuinely blessed to be able to capture their daughter Addison's portraits this year, and their 6 month family session was definitely my favorite thus far!

This was a dream session for me. Photography and horses? You got me right there in heaven! Little Hailey could not have been prettier or sweeter. I'll take about 1,000 more of these sessions, please. :)

Lesson Learned. {Statesboro, GA Newborn Lifestyle Family Photographer

Getting my images ready for Evy's 1st year album, and I came across this one. ♥ You'll have to forgive my sentimentality this morning, but her birthday is just around the corner and this picture is so special to me for a number of reasons. One, of course, it is of me and my precious girl, at only a few days old, taken by my husband. I can still feel how tiny she was in my arms back then. Secondly, it's because I may never have gotten to see this memory. Back in December, my hard drive crashed, and with it a ton of the first photos ever taken of Evy's life. Through the magic of data recovery, I was able to salvage the folder, and found this image. Lesson for today **back up your photographs** Please, I beg of you. I don't think I have ever felt such a sense of panic as when I thought those memories might be lost forever. Also, GET YOUR PICTURES OFF YOUR COMPUTER PEOPLE!!!! Print them, hang them, put them to use!! This is a BIG reason why a lot of photographers don't sell digital images. They end up on your *perishable* hard dives and never see the light of day. I am determined to correct this in my household. And I hope my clients, disc or not, have those memories displayed in a tangible form. I am so glad this picture made its way back to me. And at this very moment, it is on order, on its way to my wall, where it belongs.

Ava Grace {Savannah, GA Newborn Photographer}

I have known Kim for a few years now, and was tickled to to death when I heard she was expecting, even more excited when she asked me to do her daughter's newborn photography! We broke this session up in to two pieces (lifestyle photography and traditional newborn photography) So I was lucky enough to get to visit this sweet girl twice! I thoroughly enjoyed both visits. Ava sure is one  loved little girl.

Baby Olivia {Metter, GA Newborn Photographer}

You first met this family back in November, while Miss Olivia was still in her mommy's tummy. Brandy was one of the very first people to jump up when I started my photography venture and her trust to now capture the first year of her baby girls life means more than  can say.   I absolutely adore her family. Matt and I are so lucky to call Rhett and Brandy friends of ours. The newborn session was an adventure to schedule! Mother nature sent some *crazy* weather that week, and so we ended up breaking the session into two times, and wouldn't you know it, sweet Olivia was an angel both times. Her big brother Zach was such a big help, even reminded me to wash my hands! ;) Already looking out for his sweet baby sister. I have a LOT of favorites from this session, so be prepared. Congratulations to the Youngblood family, see you again in a few months!!!

Newborn Session Giveaway: Paying it Forward {Statesboro, GA Newborn Photographer}

So, I've been thinking and praying really hard about this newborn giveaway. I was so excited to win the little lace crown seen below, and I made a promise that should I win the giveaway, I would pay my good fortune forward with a free newborn session. I considered making it a random selection type thing, as most giveaways are on Facebook. While those are great for marketing purposes, it's really been weighing on me to make this a little bit different. Maybe its my sentimental need to extend the holiday season just a little bit longer, but mostly, its about me knowing how it feels to sometimes, just needing something *anything* to go right in your life. Some days, you just need the good Lord to tap you on the shoulder and give you a small nod of encouragement, especially now when economic times are so hard.

I feel like I'm rambling. So let me get to the point.

Instead of people entering for themselves, I want my fans to enter for someone else. I know there are those of you out there who know of an expectant mother or a family of a newborn who just might need something good to happen right now. Maybe they are expecting a child with special needs, maybe they've hit a bump in the road health-wise, or in a slump financially. In any case, its really been weighing on my heart to do a newborn session for a family in need. I know its not a million dollars, its not food on the table or a paid doctor bill. A portrait session is a luxury. But I hope, that by giving them a day of celebration for the new gift in their lives, their spirits might be lifted, even if its just a little bit. So I'm recruiting all of you (semi-local) fans to think about those around you. Is there a family you could think to enter for?

The criteria isn't very strict, but a few things are needed to be met:
1) This must be a family "in need" not "in want"…. I know you all know the difference ;) But its sort of the defining characteristic of this giveaway.

2) They need to be within 100 miles of where I live (Statesboro, GA, for those of you who don't know). Any direction, north, south, east, west--just not in California. :)

3) The baby must be a newborn. I would offer free sessions for EVERY age if I could, but this is a newborn session, so preferably, pick an expectant mother, or a baby less than 2 weeks of age.

New and (hopefully) improved :) {Statesboro Portrait Photographer}

So! I am alllll about simplicity these days. I love to streamline, organize and de-clutter. Not my house...you'd know that if you came to visit, I'm talking about for you!! I'm speaking as a customer now, I can imagine how confusing it must be to have a session and all these images to 1st) choose from, 2nd) figure out what sizes to purchase and 3rd) figure out how and where to put them on the dang wall.  I'm ashaaaamed to say that if I'd spent 1/2 as much time displaying the images of my family as I do taking them, well let's just say I'd have very little wall space left. So I've got this idea. And I need feedback from you guys as to whether this is going to help or not, after all, its for you! I'm going to set it up so that you look at a picture like the one below, and if you think its a display you'd like on your wall, all we have to do is plug in the sizes and your favorite pictures, and presto chango you have a *beautiful* family portrait display to show off. No fret, no stress. I want to make picture ordering stress free, fun and *exciting*! I want you to be able to envision what your wall will look like covered in beautiful photos of the ones you love! And while I do plan to arrange a time with most of you to actually sit down and plan out your image ordering, for those of you with crazy schedules like mine, hopefully this guide will be a one stop shop of sorts. A plug and play. I'll be working on that part of the website/blog over the next week, and feedback is encouraged! Ok I'm done brainstorming for the night. Time to scrape my sleepy hubby off of the floor and scoot on to bed. Nite nite. ;)

Evy's Six Month Session/ The McCoy Family {Statesboro, GA Family Photographer}

Finally! So happy I'm finally getting around to posting Evy's 6 month session (she turned 7 months yesterday ;-P ). True to my word, I'm doing her 3, 6, and 9 month session myself and I'm actually kind of tickled to see a little improvement in just over 3 months. I have so, so far to go before I'm any where near the level I aspire to but its nice to see a little progress.

Family self portraits are always an adventure. They usually have to take place over several days or weekends because a few things must collide: I have to have time, Evy must be awake, happy, fed, had a nap and Daddy must be home. This is a rarity around our busy little household  but I always enjoy the finished product, no matter how much sweat was involved (imagine me with the tripod, up-down-up-down run run run run…re-focus, adjust settings, repeat…you get the picture.) A little side note: I think my husband is harboring a talent. Yes, I adjust the settings and and tell him where to point " the little red box" but he really captures some awesome shots and you can't fake an eye. Husband and wife team someday maybe?? Ahhh one can dream :)
